The Artisan Steward offers repeatable work for Woodworking, Smithing, Goldsmithing, Clothcraft, Leathercraft, Bonecraft, Alchemy, and Cooking.

Rules

  • Three completed commissions per Earth day
  • One active commission at a time
  • Each daily slot offers three different rank-matched crafts
  • One free reroll before acceptance replaces all three choices; abandoning does not restore it
  • Completing an order advances to a new daily slot with a new reroll
  • The requested item scales with the character's current retail rank in the offered craft
  • An abandoned commission does not consume a daily completion or restore its reroll
  • Trade exactly one NQ copy of the requested item or one recognized distinct-item HQ result
  • Equipment and furnishings must carry the submitting character's signature
  • Alchemy and Cooking consumables do not require signatures because many consumables cannot store one
  • Items carrying augments, Magian trial data, or charges are refused instead of silently destroying that data

To sign eligible items, synthesize with the appropriate guild crystal.

The board is deterministic from character, Earth day, and daily slot. It has no random selection odds. The recipe review lists each offered item's canonical active recipe, crystal, and cap. See Profession Certifications, Provisions, and Masterworks for all 80 requests and exact materials.

HQ profession quality

NQ commissions remain valid and receive the complete published gameplay reward. When the canonical synthesis recipe produces an HQ item with a different item ID, that distinct result also satisfies the same commission and adds exactly one persistent profession-quality point for that craft. The point is recognition only: it grants no additional currency, EXP, item, combat statistic, access, commission credit, or weekly credit.

The remaining 12 recipes either return the same item ID with a larger quantity or have no distinct HQ item. Once an item is in inventory, the server cannot prove quantity-only HQ provenance, so those submissions receive normal NQ treatment. Repeated HQ tiers that resolve to different valid item IDs still add only one point per completed commission. Signature, protected-data, exact-count, daily-cap, and transaction-revalidation rules apply unchanged.

Completion rewards

The stored commission rank begins at 0 and rises with the player's craft rank.

RewardFormula
Artisan Seals5 + 3 x rank
Artisan Renown10 + 3 x rank
Expedition Renown5 + 2 x rank
Job EXP500 + 500 x rank
Gil2,000 + 1,000 x rank

Completing seven commissions during an Earth week grants one weekly milestone:

  • 50 Artisan Seals
  • 100 Artisan Renown
  • 100 Expedition Renown
  • 50,000 gil

Weekly Supply Exchange

The Artisan Steward also offers an intentionally inefficient non-crafter route to a limited number of Artisan Seals. It keeps the Forge optional for players who do not want to craft while preserving commissions as the stronger profession path.

RuleValue
Cost per exchange1 Boss Essence plus 15,000 gil
Reward per exchange3 Artisan Seals
Exchanges per Earth week10
Maximum purchased Seals per Earth week30

The player reviews the price in a second confirmation menu. The server then rechecks the current Earth week, weekly count, Boss Essence, and gil immediately before deducting anything. A denied or canceled exchange consumes nothing. A successful exchange grants no Artisan Renown, Expedition Renown, commission credit, EXP, item, or gil.

The exchange records the Essence sink, gil sink, and Seal source separately with post-transaction balances. Its week resets lazily on the next interaction; normal commissions and crafting remain available after the exchange cap.

Survey Scrip alternative

The Field Surveyor adds a second optional Seal route: 25 Survey Scrip for one Artisan Seal, capped at four Seal purchases per Earth week. A character can earn at most 100 Survey Scrip from five contracts per week, so spending the entire weekly income yields at most four Seals. This route grants no Artisan Renown, Expedition Renown, commission credit, EXP, item, or gil.

The three profession routes are intentionally unequal. Commissions remain the strongest and broadest profession progression. The Essence-plus-gil Supply Exchange can provide up to 30 Seals weekly at a steep combat/economy cost. Survey Contracts can provide up to four at a slower field-play cost. None converts Seals or Scrip back to gil.

Certifications and Provisions

Each craft has four sequential certifications based on retail craft rank, the highest commission rank actually completed in that craft, a threshold-only Artisan Renown requirement, and a one-time gil fee. Certifications add no combat stats and do not relax retail specialization.

Optional Field, Recovery, and Reraise kits use ordinary retail consumables at premium no-arbitrage prices. They require a certification in any craft, remove both Seals and gil, recheck inventory space, and refund every cost if delivery fails. They are convenience only and never required for combat progression.

Community stock and Craft Projects

The Steward's community stock conserves actual player-supplied level-5 synthesis kits: one donated kit adds one unit, one redemption removes one unit, each craft holds at most 25, and each character can redeem three per Earth week. Donations grant no reward. The separate Field Surveyor material route is deliberately lossy and cannot add to provenance stock.

Four permanent Craft Project records pair all eight crafts. Artisan certification in both paired crafts provides an immediate two-component route; Master certification in one craft provides a more expensive three-stage route limited to one submission per Earth week. Both routes consume signed components, Seals, and gil and award only a ledger record—never an item, currency, statistic, or access.

Cosmetic Masterworks

Every craft has one Masterwork combining a clean self-signed craft base, 12 published gathered materials, 5 Boss Essence, 20 Artisan Seals, 10 Expedition Scrap, and 100,000 gil. The eight rewards are one-time protected furnishings with no combat statistics and zero NPC resale. Exact bases, materials, rewards, costs, and transaction guards are published on the profession page.

Why the system exists

Commissions give crafting a daily purpose beyond grinding skill and selling finished goods. They remain the fastest Artisan Seal route and uniquely grant profession Renown, EXP, gil, and weekly milestone credit. The Supply Exchange prevents Artisan Seals from making crafting a hard Forge requirement without making crafting irrelevant.

Good habits

  • Check the active request before crafting.
  • Keep guild crystals available for signed equipment, furnishings, and Craft Project components.
  • Treat HQ quality as a cosmetic record; NQ never loses rewards or progression.
  • Use the curated Auction House for common materials, but expect rare materials to remain player-driven.
  • Plan seven weekly completions without feeling forced to complete all 21 possible daily slots.
  • Keep some wallet space available; gil messages report the amount actually credited if the retail wallet cap is reached.
